On the 42nd minute a Bagasan Graham freekick was headed back by Smith and Luke Woodward dragged his effort just wide. Then, on the stroke of halftime, the industrious Henry Sinai won the ball out wide from Braham-Barrett who was caught trying to shield the ball out for a goal-kick, and when the ball came back in from Gavin Hoyte, it was Sinai’s header that was blocked by the back of Braham-Bennett who made up for his mistake.

Coming into the second half, the Brickies had the lion share of the chances despite the gamesmanship and timewasting from the away side.

Derek Asamoah came on, and his experience and liveliness gave the Leafe defenders a different challenge to deal with, and within seconds of coming on Henry Sinai found himself through on goal. A big Rex Porter goal-kick was headed on by Mitchell May for Henry Sinai and Derek Asamoah. Sinai got there first, however his chest-down didn’t quite fall for him in time to shoot as the backtracking Helge Orome was there to save the day.

On the 70th minute an indirect freekick on the edge of the box was given for a high boot on D’sean Theobalds was brought down on the edge of the box as he looked to be in behind the back four. The ball was laid off for Bagasan Graham, but his vicious shot was fired at the onrushing Leafe wall and cleared from danger.

Despite Sittingbourne’s attempts to score the equaliser, Whyteleafe would score the all-important next goal as the Brickies lost possession in midfield after Ben Swift’s wayward pass gifted the away side the ball, Jean-Baptiste Fischer was there to the rescue, however from the resulting corner Helge Orome sealed the win when headed home from close range.

The action wasn’t over there though, just five minutes later the Brickies were caught try to play out from the back again when Jack Steventon’s pass was blocked and Moses Emmanuel’s blocked shot trickled into the net to make it 4-1.

Despite the loss and dropping to 5th, Prestedge’s Brickies stay in the Playoffs ahead of a Bank Holiday double header when they will travel to East Grinstead Town on Saturday before hosting Merstham on Bank Holiday Monday.

Report: Jacob Waller.

Report: Sittingbourne 1-4 AFC Whyteleafe.
