Sittingbourne start their new season campaign at home to AFC Greenwich Borough. AFC Greenwich Borough are a team that was only formed in 2023. They were previously the Welling United academy.They moved to Greenwich Boroughs ( not the same team) old ground at Oakley Road, Bromley and introduced a men’s team and given special dispensation by the FA to enter the Southern Counties Football League Division One. They had instant success and finished as Champions of the SCEFL Division One scoring 105 goals in their 34 matches. SE Dons, who have announced they are playing at the old VCD Athletic Ground, were runners up.
AFC Greenwich Borough have two members of staff with Sittingbourne FC connections. Brett Smith is Director of Operations and Simon Beard is Assistant Head Coach. Tony Russell is their experienced manager. Tony has previously managed Cray Wanderers, Lewes, Ramsgate, Erith Town and VCD Athletic.
AFC Greenwich Borough played their first friendly on 4th July and beat Harold Hill FC (ProKit Essex Olympian Football League) by two goals to one.
