Crowborough Athletic 4 (Steve Smith -4), Sittingbourne 0
Velocity Cup, 2nd Round
Tuesday 28th October 2025
Ryan Maxwell’s Brickies came into this Velocity Cup Second Round Tie on the back of their 2-1 FA Trophy victory over Premier Division Cray Valley Paper Mills, this game would be entirely different, however.
Due to the heavy schedule in the month of October courtesy of the FA Trophy run, manager Ryan Maxwell left most of his squad back at home in Kent for regular Tuesday evening training therefore a heavily rotated side was fielded with the manager just one of two players named on the bench.
Former Premier League star Jordon Ibe started and played the whole match just days after signing for the club, whilst first team players Mitchell Beeney, Ellis Brown, Ayman El-Mogharbel, Yannis Ambrosine and D’sean Theobalds started as they looked to up their fitness.
A brace of Steve Smith goals either side of half-time completed the striker’s four goals as a Sittingbourne side who was competitive throughout failed to test the opposition goalkeeper enough to influence the tie.
It was, however, a strong performance a game that youngsters and reserve side players can be proud of.
