Prestedge’s Sittingbourne side return to FA Cup action having beaten Erith & Belvedere in the Preliminary Round two weekends ago.

Sittingbourne come into this FA Cup tie on the back of a 3-2 win over Kent rivals Ashford United on Bank Holiday Monday, whilst AFC Greenwich Borough, known as the Cannons, were 4-3 winners at Petts Wood & Holmesdale on the same day.

Having been knocked out at this stage at home to AFC Croydon Athletic last campaign, everyone associated with Sittingbourne FC will be desperate to go one better this season in the world’s  oldest football competition. However, their opponents this weekend will be no push-overs despite being a League below. They showed this in their recent friendly with us that ended in a 1-1 draw. Our goal being scored by Jordy Mongoy.

Bothoth sides come into this tie unbeaten in the League having accumulated 10 points from their respective League games (three wins and one draw each), the Cannons however, sit top of the Southern Counties East League Premier Division whilst Sittingbourne sit third in the Isthmian League South East Division.

The Cannons will not be fazed by facing opponents a Division above them, they beat Broadbridge Heath and Cray Valley PM, both in the Isthmian League South East Division, to reach this stage.

Following today’s meeting, we will enter the Kent Senior Cup when they travel to Swale rivals Sheppey United on Tuesday 9th September (19:45).
